Lucius Malfoy worth $1.3 billion

Forbes has released a list of the wealthiest fictional characters, and Lucius Malfoy came in at #12, three places better than last year's #15 ranking. The site estimates his net worth to be $1.3 billion.

"With the price of gold at record levels, stockpiles of gold galleons have appreciated significantly. Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour reportedly increasing security outside Malfoy's cell in the wake of Dementor guard revolt, fearing escape attempt. EA announces OOTP video game

Electronic Arts, maker of the entire Potter video game series, today has a new game to announce: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix! In a press release issued this afternoon, EA had this to say about the game's uniqueness:

The close and synergistic relationship between book, film and videogame is more defined in the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix videogame than ever before. Players will be able to explore the many key locations within Hogwarts in minute detail, each one a visual match to its film equivalent, while being engrossed in the thrilling adventures outlined in the rich narrative of the book.

With the ability to play multiple characters, including Harry Potter, Dumbledore and Sirius Black, the videogame of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix offers fans the opportunity to wield a wand, explore all around Hogwarts, and experience one of the most exciting and dangerous years in the life of the Boy Who Lived.

You can see four screenshots from the game in our gallery! The game will be released for all gaming consoles on July 13th, 2007 - the same day of the US and UK release of the film.

Programming note: Episode 65 of MuggleCast (due for release this Sunday) will include a special interview with two producers of the OOTP video game.

Dan speaks about new teaser trailer

In a short interview with CBBC Newsround, actor Dan Radcliffe comments on the response he's received about the trailer: "So far [it] has been very, very positive. People do seem to be wanting to see more of the film." You can see a video of this on YouTube, thanks to reader Oliver.

Something better than the trailer...

As we reported yesterday, HBO on Demand is currently airing a special preview of the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie. The preview runs for almost four minutes, and includes tons of new OOTP footage, including behind the scenes glimpses at the making of the movie. A video of this very exciting sneak peek can be seen here, thanks to HPANA.

PLEASE NOTE: As this video contains such a large quantity of never-before-seen footage, we warn you that it may spoil some of the film for you.

Fifteen new OOTP photos!

MTV has posted 15 brand new set images from the fifth Harry Potter film. They show the following: the interior of the Ministry of Magic; Harry and Mr. Weasley attending the disciplinary hearing there; the writing on Harry's hand from Umbridge's quill; some of the other cast, and more!

E! Daily 10 has released their Order of the Phoenix set report on their website, which you can check out (in video form) right here. GOF nominated for Bafta Awards

The fourth Potter film has received two nominations, Best Feature Film and Bafta Kids' Vote, in this year's children's Bafta Awards. The awards ceremony will take place on November 26th in London. Thanks to everyone who wrote in.

Jo Rowling recently donated a new, autographed copy of Half-Blood Prince to the Helen Ritson Trust Fund, a charity that benefits underprivileged children. You can now bid for the book on eBay, but note that the auction will close in three days.

JKR discusses Harry's birthday

As a special birthday treat for JK Rowling, South American fan site HPLA gathered money from hundreds of Latin American fans in order to send Jo a bunch of roses and teddy bears. JK later responded in a letter, thanking them for the gifts, as well as shedding light on her motives for giving Harry a July 31st birthday.

When I chose to give Harry my own birthday, I did it with a wry smile to myself. I had no idea, at that time, that I would ever be published, so it was a very private act! But I had always felt slightly cheated that nobody really famous shared my birthday, so I gave myself this (wizard) world world famous boy as a kind of birthday brother. The wonderful side-effect, all these years later, is letters like yours. I could never have imagined it, and it all seems slightly surreal, still!

Newsweek interviews Dan Radcliffe

The weekly US magazine has two new articles focusing around Dan as an actor and how his life has been affected by the Potter films:

You've been playing Harry for six years now. Are you still enjoying it?
This film has been the most fun I've had, definitely, partly because of Imelda Staunton [who plays Harry's nemesis, Professor Dolores Umbridge], and partly because of David Yates, our wonderful director, who I have had absolutely the time of my life working with. He pushes me farther and more often than I ever have been before. This is not being detrimental to any of the previous directors because I wouldn't have been able to do this before, but David has caught me at just the right moment.

The Three Broomsticks

Butterbeer! It warms you up AND tastes great. Now in take-away form from The Three Broomsticks. (Many thanks to Melissa for this recipe!)

Ingredients:

1 cup (8 oz) club soda or cream soda
½ cup (4 oz) butterscotch syrup (ice cream topping)
½ tablespoon butter

Directions:

Step 1: Measure butterscotch and butter into a 2 cup (16 oz) glass. Microwave on high for 1 to 1½ minutes, or until syrup is bubbly and butter is completely incorporated.

Step 2: Stir and cool for 30 seconds, then slowly mix in club soda. Mixture will fizz quite a bit.

Step 3: Serve in two coffee mugs or small glasses; a perfectly warm Hogwarts treat for two!

Step 4: Tell us how this recipe is on the feedback form.

Pumpkin Juice, a favorite for feasts at Hogwarts that you can now take home with you!

Ingredients:

2 cups of pumpkin, chopped up into chunks
2 cups of apple juice
½ cup of pineapple juice
1 teaspoon of honey (more or less to your liking
Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg and/or Allspice (all ground, to taste)

Directions:

Step 1: Juice the pumpkin pieces by squeezing through a cheesecloth or using a juicer if you have one.

Step 2: Pour the pumpkin juice, apple juice and pineapple juice into a blender.

Step 3: Add the honey (we recommend you start with 1 teaspoon, as you can add some later!) to the juices and blend thoroughly.

Step 4: Add your spices (to taste). This might take some experimentation to get right.

Step 5: Chill your pumpkin juice or serve iced and enjoy!

Pumpkin Cookies, a delectable treat that any muggle would love!(Enormous thanks to Jim and Jane for this recipe!)

Ingredients:

1 cup pumpkin
1 egg
2 cups flour - all purpose
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder

Directions:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350.

Step 2: Cream sugar and shortening.

Step 3: Add vanilla, egga, and pumpkin.

Step 4: Sift dry ingredients.

Step 5: Add remaining ingredients - mix well.

Step 6: Use teaspoon to drop cookies on cookie sheet.

Step 7: Bake 10-12 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen.

Pumpkin Cookie Frosting:

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons butter

½ cup brown sugar

4 tablespoons milk

Directions:

Step 1: Bring above ingredients to a boil in sauce pan. Cool for a short while.

Step 2: Add: 3/4 teaspoon vanilla and 1 or more cups powdered sugar.

Step 3: Put onto cookies and ENJOY!

Ton-Tongue toffee just for you, though we promise it's been anti-jinxed to keep your tongues small! (Many thanks to Rachel for this recipe!)

Ingredients:

2 cups sugar
8 tablespoons of butter
½ teaspoon vanilla extract (or imitation)
1½ cups water
Additionally, a candy thermometer is required

Directions:

Step 1: In a medium saucepan, mix all ingredients and melt over medium heat until sugar is completely dissolved.

Step 2: Without furter stirring, boil until mixture reaches 290°F on your candy thermometer.

Step 3: Pour mixture into a greased or buttered 9"x12" pan and let cool until almost firm to the touch.

Step 4: Score surface into 2" squares with a sharp knife, but do not cut completely.

Step 5: When cool, break into pieces (this should be easier if toffee was properly scored).

Step 6: Enjoy! Makes 1¼ pounds of toffee.

Treacle Fudge is a sweet treat from Mrs. Weasley or a tooth-breaker from Hagrid. Be sure yours doesn't get too hard! (Many thanks to Aurora for this recipe)

Ingredients:

½ cup light cream or evaporated milk
¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
4 ounces of unsweetened chocolate
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/3 cup molasses

Directions:

Step 1: In a large bowl, mix cream, brown sugar and salt together.

Step 2: In a saucepan, melt the chocolate and butter together. Remove from heat and add molasses.

Step 3: Add the chocolate mixtures and cream mixtures together. Pour mixture into a pan and let cool.

Step 4: Cut into squares after cooled and serve. Enjoy!
